Cookies and Local Storage Notice

Browser storage used for sign-in, security, your reading experience and optional analytics.

What is stored

Loomtale uses browser storage and technical session mechanisms for authentication, progress, bookmarks, reader preferences and conflict-recovery copies. Depending on the route, these include a session token, story choices and the selected animation setting. They are not payment-card records.

Persistent localStorage entries remain until removed by you or the service; authentication validity also depends on the session mechanism. Payment and identity-provider pages have their own storage notices when you visit them.

Optional analytics

This website uses Amplitude product analytics to understand how Loomtale is used and to improve it. When analytics is on, Amplitude's code stores a first-party cookie for loomtale.app named AMP_ followed by a project code. It holds a random device ID, a session ID and, if you are signed in, your account ID. A second cookie, AMP_MKTG_ followed by the same code, can hold campaign and referral details from the link that brought you here. Both cookies expire 365 days after they were last updated. Amplitude also keeps events waiting to be sent and its settings in local storage, details of the current visit in session storage and SDK diagnostics in IndexedDB, and after you sign in we keep your account ID for analytics in local storage, with a marker for each billing period in which we recorded your subscription access.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or we cannot determine your country, analytics stays off and none of this is stored until you select Accept; Reject has the same prominence. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off. Reading works the same whichever you choose, and continuing to browse is not consent. To make this decision, the website asks our hosting provider which country your connection comes from; we do not save the answer. We do not use advertising pixels or retargeting.

Necessary storage supports requested functions; optional tracking must not be made a condition of free reading. This notice does not claim that all technologies used by external sites are controlled by Loomtale.

Your controls

Use Cookie settings, also linked in the site footer, to accept or reject analytics at any time. Your choice is saved in this browser's local storage. If you reject analytics after it was on, the website stops sending analytics from this browser and deletes the Amplitude cookies and storage; analytics already sent is handled as described in the Privacy Notice.

Use your browser's site settings to clear cookies and local storage for loomtale.app. Clearing them can sign you out and remove unsynced progress. Check that your account save succeeded first. It does not cancel your subscription or delete your cloud account.

Manage renewal on Subscription. Request server-data deletion or other privacy rights using the Privacy Notice and info@piqle.io.
